FAQs About My HVAC System

December 1, 2020 By //  by staff

FAQs About My HVAC System:

Air Conditioners are essential to keeping you cool and comfortable in your home.  When you are looking to maintain your HVAC system, consider the maintenance that is required to provide proper upkeep.  Whether you have a brand new HVAC system or you have an existing one that you would like to take better care of, here are a few FAQs answered!

  • When should I change my filter? – The answer to this one depends on where your HVAC system and how clean it stays.  On average, we recommend changing the filter twice a year.  But, changing the filter once a month should keep your HVAC unit running without issue.   If you can’t remember the last time the filter was changed, it’s probably time to change it now.
  • Should I turn my temperature up when I am not home? – The answer is, YES!  The longer you keep your temperature up, the less cost will be accrued. The harder your AC has to work to cool your home, the more it can increase your energy bills. Typically, if you work during the day and you are not home, you can set your temperature a couple of degrees higher.  Setting your thermostat to the highest temperature you find comfortable is the simplest way to save money on your energy bills during the peak HOT summer days.
  • What is a Programmable Thermostat?  A programmable thermostat can help you control your home’s temperature while you are away.   For example, you can set a schedule for your AC to turn on an hour before you get home.  This allows you to walk into a cool home while maintaining control of your energy bills and your comfort.  There are many options to choose from, but before buying one; make sure you know the HVAC system that is used to cool and heat your home to check for compatibility.
  • When should I consider replacing my HVAC unit? – Consider replacing your HVAC unit if it is older than 10 years or more, or if you see any issues with mold or rust on your HVAC system.  Plus, if your HVAC is over 10 years old, it might be using old technology.  This can lead to inefficiencies and can be adding cost to your monthly energy bills.

Our qualified service and installation teams offer experienced installation, maintenance, and repair for all makes and models of HVAC systems.  Plus, with low-cost contracts, you’ll have a cool and comfortable home and a full wallet.
